MEDIUM: Aluminum With Light Gathering Paint.

BEIJING INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE PARK
BEIJING, CHINA

GOOD FORTUNE is the theme of this sculpture.

Outside, the dramatic light gathering paint changes colors depending on the angle and intensity of the sun. Inside, the dramatic light gathering paint has an entirely different effect. The color changes based on the observer's viewpoint. Colors are deeper and even more dramatic, with electric neon highlights.

Why did the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games begin at 8:08 am, on the 8th day, of the 8th month of 2008?

Because the Chinese believe that “8” is the Lucky Number. So Jon was inspired to create a sculpture to bring Good Luck to the Games, designing a
towering sculpture casts the shadow of a number 8.

So walk through that shadow and get Good Luck!
Also,  As you walk around the sculpture it changes colors, so it can change your Luck!
