One of six finalists to be selected in a national competition, Jon recently traveled to the rolling hills of western Virginia to present his dramatic sculpture of Patrick Henry to the Emory & Henry College Art Committee.
Before his presentation, Jon toured the beautiful campus, which is listed on the National Register and the Virginia Register of Historic Places.
The college is named after Methodist Bishop John Emory and Patrick Henry, a renowned patriot of the American Revolution and Virginia's first governor. Known for his fiery quote “Give me liberty or give me death!”, Henry represents the commitment to the ideals of freedom and civic virtue.
The 125% life size sculpture is scheduled for installation in 2011.
