Jon was introduced by North Miami City Councilman, Scott Galvin, as the recipient of the 2009 Golden Pioneer Award for lifetime achievements.
Other distinguished recipients of the award include Jeffrey Zucker, President & CEO of NBC Universal, Oscar winning composer Bill Conti, best known for "Gonna Fly Now," his movie theme for Sylvester Stallone's blockbuster "Rocky," and major league baseball pitcher, Steve Carlton, winner of four Cy Young Awards and member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Jon and Scott discussed the possibility of a bronze "Pioneer" statue for the beautiful new school now being built.
