The phoenix was a fabulous mythical bird having a life-span of 500 years, after which it was consumed by flames. A new phoenix miraculously arose from the fire every 500 years.

Like its ancient counterpart, flames emerge from the base of "Phoenix Rising" and spiral dramatically skyward.
